Bestiarium - Kuchurik
Kuchurik is a seven-fold creature with emerald-green vermiform parts growing out of a single body. Their seven chicken-like legs are not well-suited for walking, and they can move only by jumping awkwardly back and forth. They feed on soil, and as they do not have any mouthparts, they tumble down on the ground and absorb nutrients from soil through the large pores, covering their bodies. Each head is crowned by a pink comb, which turns bright red during the mating season. The pairing is really hard for these poor creatures, causing lot of confusion, crawling and bumping, until they can finally collapse on each other in such a way that will allow them to exchange certain fluids through their pores.

Bestiarium - Mayra
Mayra is a very rare and exceptional animal, for it appears only as a female specimen. There are no male Mayras in Nature. The way of its conception still remains a mystery. Locals say she lies like a dead under a great oak tree for three days, after which she impregnates. On the twenty seventh day the shell-like cover on her back opens and the baby Mayra comes out. Mayras dwell in the trunks of big trees near the water and feed on fruits and leaves.

Bestiarium - Yerkeni
It's time for Yerkeni.
Yerkeni is a double-sided eel-like fish, found in waters of the Inner Lake. While one head is chasing small fish, the other is keeping watch, defending it from the predators. Sometimes, when the danger is too big from both sides, or when it is hard to decide on which side the catch is more promising, the two halves of its brain connected to each other by a thin cord come into conflict, and the poor creature rushes about in confusion back and forth. Often, as a result, the brain cord is being torn, and Yerkeni goes out of its mind, twirling around hysterically till cardiac arrest.

Bestiarium - Artatam
Well, here comes another one. This is Artatatam.
Artatam is a very serious animal of great strength, persistence and dignity. Miraculous as it is, the mouth of this creature is located not on its head, but under its broad chest, which allows it to eat, simply sitting on the ground without the need of bending its stiff neck and losing its dignity.

Bestiarium - Cover
image © Sona Babajanyan
Apshabots is a small timid creature and although it can spout fire through its five-nostrils almost like a real dragon, it usually gets very scared of that fire itself. It breathes out fire only to defend itself, but as it is so fearful and sees danger everywhere, this happens quite often, making it petrify for about half an hour. It has no mouth and uses its nostrils to suck in water and small insects, which are poisonous to humans and other animals. It inhabits the most isolated part of the Inner land.Monday, October 4, 2010
Bestiarium
I thought it was time to take all my beasts under control, so a while ago I started working on my "Bestiarium" - a collection of all the creatures inhabiting the Inner Land, including their Latin names and brief descriptions.
Let me introduce one of them. This is Yotnapalar. Please make him feel welcome.
Let me introduce one of them. This is Yotnapalar. Please make him feel welcome.
Yotnapalar is an animal of incomparable flexibility. It has seven similar hollow tubes or canals, which can be used interchangeably as a nose, mouth, ears, feet, or tail. When it is thirsty or hungry, it goes to the Great Mountain of the Inner Land, climbs to the peak, sits on its bottom and breaths air through its tubes, which fills its body and transforms into vital energy.

Dirty Dozen
ha-ha! Just realized that my Halloween mouse-pad is in this week's Artsproject's Dirty Dozen, where they features 12 products from the "sickest artists". So pleasing...
Welcome to my Corner!
That's it. I finally decided to do my blog. So, welcome to my corner! This is where I am going to show you the stuff I am currently playing with or working on, as well as things that I find inspiring. Maybe also something unfinished like this one, that's never going to be finished...
